For over 50 years, the Vidalia Woman’s Club and the Vidalia Lions Club have jointly sponsored the Arts and Crafts Fair in conjunction with the annual Vidalia Onion Festival. In the last decade, the VWC published four editions of a cookbook featuring recipes celebrating the onion. These cookbooks were sold at the Arts and Crafts event and in a number of area locations. Proceeds from the sales annually benefit a range of VWC endeavors including support of local programs which assist residents throughout the club’s service area and scholarships for deserving high school graduates.

This year, the Vidalia Woman’s Club will publish a completely new cookbook. This new edition will celebrate Vidalia’s famous onion with a mouth-watering array of favorite and classic recipes collected from individuals, families, organizations and businesses throughout the Vidalia Onion’s multi-county growing area. *

We would love to include your recipes and anecdotes. For example, if your grandmother made a particularly delicious squash casserole featuring Vidalia onions, please let us hear from you! We would like the recipe, some information about your grandmother, and a photograph of her in the kitchen. Of course, the submission doesn’t have to be a family classic, it can be your very own masterpiece—and it doesn’t even have to be an award-winner, just delicious! Most importantly, the recipe must feature the authentic Vidalia onion.

You can enter as many recipes as you like. The VWC reserves the right to edit submissions. We will include no more than 250 recipes in the 2020 cookbook so it may not be possible to use all submissions in this edition; but, we plan to publish new editions in the future featuring more original Vidalia Onion recipes. If we don’t use your recipe in the 2020 edition, we will keep it on file for possible future publication.

Deadline for submissions is no later than September 30, 2019. You may submit your recipe online to; or mail it to Vidalia Woman’s Club, 2020 Cookbook, PO Box 976, Vidalia, GA 30475.
